Special Issue on "Efficient and Robust Security of Wireless Mesh Networks"

Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is an emerging next generation wireless
broadband provisioning technology which is gaining significant interest from
academia and industry. WMNs have been considered as a city-wide
community-based approach to support and ensure high-speed last mile
unrestricted ubiquitous broadband access. In spite of many great features
in WMNs such as self-organizing, self-healing, easy and cost effective
deployment and maintenance, high scalability of services yet a lot needs to
be done in terms of efficient and robust security solutions, and reliable
access to user. Some of the inherent characteristics of WMN such as
large-scale coverage, decentralized and multi-hop architecture,
multi-radios, multi-channel assignments, ad hoc connectivity, dynamic
topology and support the maximum freedom of users to join or leave the
network from anywhere and at anytime has made the situation far more
complex. As a result broadband resources are exposed to various kinds of
security attacks.

This special issue aims to gather recent advances in the area of security
aspect of WMNs. It welcomes survey/review articles that focus on the
challenges and the state-of-the-art solutions. The papers will be peer
reviewed and will be selected on the basis of their quality and relevance to
the topic of this special issue. Topics include, but are not limited to:

. Secure multimedia communication and streaming
. Secure neighbour discovery, localization and mobility
. Security architectures, deployments and solutions
. Denial of service attacks and countermeasures
. Intrusion detection and prevention techniques
. Distributed security and adaptive defense systems
. Confidentiality, integrity, availability, trust establishment and
privacy
. Authentication and Access control
. Cryptography, encryption algorithms and Key management schemes
. Experimental validation and experiences with WMN testbed and/or
deployment

All papers will be reviewed according to the standard peer review process of
the Elsevier JNCA.

Manuscript should be prepared according to the guideline given in the
'Instructions for Authors' link available at the online submission web page
http://ees.elsevier.com/jnca/. Authors should follow the same submission
procedure as for regular papers, but when prompted to select the article
type, choose "Special Issue: Wireless Mesh Networks".

Deadlines:
Paper submission: 15 October, 2009
Acceptance notification: 15 January, 2010
Final paper: 15 February, 2010
Publication: Second Quarter 2010
